The RASIC CTRX8191F from Infineon Technologies is a Radar MMIC. It is specifically designed to meet the requirements of automated and autonomous driving, thereby enabling the development of next-generation radar imaging modules. This radar offers a relatively higher signal-to-noise (SNR) ratio compared to previous generations, allowing the radar to detect vulnerable road users and vehicles at a distance of up to 380 m. This radar is fabricated using 28 nm MMIC technology and includes 8 transmitters and 8 receivers. It enables cascading of multiple devices at low frequencies, which reduces the need for expensive RF materials on the circuit board.
The RASIC CTRX8191F features an optimized launcher-on-package design that facilitates the use of low-cost waveguide antennas in place of custom antennas. This radar MMIC uses a state-of-the-art digital phase locked loop (PLL) that offers high flexibility in generating complex waveforms with the shortest flyback time on the market (< 1 µs). A comprehensive radar development kit (CARKIT) is also provided for the rapid design and development of radar systems.
